One of Epson’s much talked about A3 laser printers, is the Aculaser M800N. The printer is marketed for it’s great print quality, high printing speeds and the low economy it has to offer. This printer is one of a kind.
Print resolution is 1200 X 1200 dpi which is ample for enterprises and I would expect outputs with this resolution to be as good as any we have seen so far. Being an A3 printer, we cannot expect the printer to carry a small footprint. This one has 51.8cm X 42.9cm X 39 cm.
Epson claims that the print speeds on this printer are 44 pages per minute in A4 and up to 25 pages per minute in A3. These are really good numbers on paper. However, we have seen with almost all printers that the claimed figures are never true.
Parallel port and USB are provided to hook single systems and Ethernet for networks.
Warm up time as claimed is 18 seconds and the first print out ejects in less than 8 seconds. These numbers are not bad, but it may find some tough competition against HP’s Instant-On systems.
Epson claims that the Aculaser M800N presents a low total cost of ownership. This is exactly what businesses would like to hear. But, the printer itself presents a hefty price tag upfront at £2,573.70 inclusive of VAT.
