Epson counters the HP Officejets with its Workforce line of printers. The latest one in the market is Epson WorkForce 310 which was introduced into the market in the month of June. It’s aimed at homes and home offices and the printer is a good combination of office centric and home centric features.
Epson canvases for this printer on the lines of comparison with laser printers. The company claims that the printer outputs laser quality documents at laser-like speed. The comparison turns south when it comes to power usage as the claims state that WorkForce 310 consumes 70% less power than a typical laser printer.
Maximum print resolution possible is 5760 X 1440 dpi which is definitely comparable or even better than laser quality in terms of numbers. This is mainly made possible through Epson’s patented DURABrite ink technology and MicroPiezo print head technology.
Laser-like quality prints are obtained at print speeds of 16 pages per minute for monochrome and 6 pages per minute for colour documents.
The Epson WorkForce 310 multi-function printer connects to standalone PCs through USB 2.0 and to networks through Ethernet port. Wi-Fi technology is a costly miss. The printer can print in duplex and a 30 page automatic document feeder completes the printer.
The printer is on sale for £65 which isn’t too steep.
