Goodbye PCW

pcw-magThe legendary Personal Computer World (PCW) magazine has finally ended; an era that made dreams into reality has catapulted under the banner – recession. Incisive Media called it quits earlier this week and the August month edition will be the last of its kind.

The company blames the downfall with this four worded phrase – unprecedented adverse economic climate.

The legend of PCW started in 1978 and defined the term computing in the UK in the 80s.

Incisive Media states in their official statement that the magazine started losing a lot of its revenue by below average sales and lack of advertisers. It is believed that around 50,000 copies of the magazine were sold last month.

Managing director of Incisive’s professional services division Graham Harman said – “Sadly, no amount of hard work or innovation was going to turn around the structural decline in advertising and newsstand sales. The depth of this recession and the ease of access to information online has only served to accelerate the long term downward trend within this particular sector.”

One hard fact that the media mogul acknowledges is that the magazine failed to adapt to the changing times and hence it became a liability.
