Canon, the company that is renowned for (exceeding) lab quality prints and economical Canon printer cartridges is riding on a high with printers that can reach homes without a whole need of marketing. One of the printer responsible for the upsurge is the Selphy ES2. It is a compact mobile printer that can source prints from computers, digital cameras and cell phones.
The printer features a 3.0″ LCD for viewing images before printing and to navigate through the menu. It is also embedded with certain photo editing software to remove red eye and other minor glitches that photos may have.
Maximum print resolution is mediocre at 300 X 600 dpi. This resolution is made possible through dye sublimation thermal technology which leverages on three inks for colour prints along with black ink for monochrome prints.
Print speed for 4″ X 6″ postcard sized prints is 69 seconds a piece and is just under a minute for credit card sized prints.
The Canon Selphy ES2 which comes with Wi-Fi and additional battery by default is priced at £189 inclusive of VAT.
