HP Carbon Footprint Calculator for Printing

hpHP has recently launched a new campaign which allows offices and home users to estimate the amount of saving that can be accomplished by going with HP over the existing fleet.

Carbon FootPrint Calculator is a tool that contains a huge database of over 3000 printers that covers all HP printers in the past 20 years and non-HP printers in the past ten years. The database also contains entries corresponding to consumption of power, carbon emission levels amongst other minute details. These details have been collated either through third party research or through manufacturer’s spec sheets.

HP uses the historical value of older printers with it’s new offerings that are much improved in terms of carbon emissions and energy consumption, and draws a comparison in which the output is in terms of money that an organization/user can save if they opt for HP’s new fleet.

It is definitely an innovative idea to extend their reach over the already over-crowded printer market. But, we do not believe that many organizations or enterprises would focus towards an investment of a considerable size during the times of recession.
