We were mentioning about HP’s green initiative to reduce energy by incorporating LEDs instead of fluorescent tubes in their scanners earlier this week, well, we have another. HP has introduced D2545, a DeskJet printer manufactured from 100% recycled plastic.
Times are quickly changing. At first, green slogans were for preservation of forests and hence recycled paper. Once the recycled paper was on track, now the concentration is heading towards pollution and pollution through unwanted plastic.
The D2545 DeskJet printer carries a meager price tag of £23 and is currently unavailable in the UK. The cartridges for this printer too are made from recycled plastic resins.
The D2545 printer is not the first printer manufactured by HP with recycled plastic; laser printers P4015X and P4515X come under the same green segment as well.
HP has set a target for the year 2010 before which all DeskJet printers would be manufactured from recycled plastic. Around the same time, HP wants to triple the number of recycled inkjet printers.
