Review: HP Launches an Entry Level Laser Printer : LaserJet P1006

HP has unveiled a new entry-level budget laser printer, LaserJet P1006 that boasts of high end outputs at an economical price.

The printer is powered with HP’s new spherical toner technology and the price of cartridges is significantly cheaper than other technologies today.

P1006 has a 266 MHz processor and an inbuilt 8MB memory. Printing speed is on the lower side at 17ppm.
Instant On technology on this printer enables the printer to spit out the first page from sleep mode / start mode at twice the rate of other laser printers. A new thread for saving toner, Cartridge Intelligence ensures that the printer uses minimal amount of consumables without compromising quality. The Intelligence technology also provides alerts and automatically orders for more consumables when the supplies are low.

A disadvantage on this printer is the lack of networking functionality, but, this is a budget printer and the printing major will definitely try to cut corners at all possible opportunities.

The Laserjet P1006 carries a price tag of £90 which should be affordable by the common user.
