A multifunction inkjet printer that is best-suited for light printing use, the HP OfficeJet J5780 is ideal for any home office purposes. The printer is ideal for people who use their home as an office. However, there is a lack of support for network connectivity and media card slots. The J5780 is ideal for use at homes that are also used as offices. The printer has all the features necessary – fax, copy, scan and print.

Features
A compact design that occupies minimal space, the HP OfficeJet J5780 measures 18 inches in width, 15.2 inches in depth and 9.3 inches in height, and weighs less than 15 pounds.

Some of the other features include an automatic document feeder that can hold 35 pages, an input and output tray, where the lower input tray can support up to 100 sheets of regular paper. An intuitively designed control panel, which is displayed with the arrangement of the buttons based on tasks. Every function has dedicated buttons, for example to scan the printer has its own set of button, for print it has its own set of buttons and so on. Some of the buttons include redial and speed dial for fax, reduce/enlarge for copy, menu buttons and dedicated start buttons for both black and color printing. There is also an alphanumeric keypad and five one-touch dial buttons for the fax.

The HP 350 ink cartridges are used in the HP J5780 – a two-tank system that supports both four and six color printing. The four color printing is good for standard printing while the six color cartridges are used for printing photos.

Performance
With an average performance with speed, the HP OfficeJet J5780 prints black text at 6 ppm, however it is quicker with the 4×6” photo printing at 0.7ppm for a single print and an average of 0.77ppm when printing a 10-print batch. The scanning speeds are slower with 2.8ppm for grayscale and 2.9 for color, while the copying (using the ADF) performance is average with 1.86ppm.
