HP Praises its Eco-Friendly Initiatives

HP, the highly criticized computer manufacturer for wearing non-green hat has patted its own back for the green initiatives the company has undertaken over the past few years. Earlier last week, it released Global Citizenship Report which harps and adores on its green achievements.

The report claims that in the past year, HP is the first IT company to do away with greenhouse gas emissions associated with product manufacturing and manufacture a printer entirely from recycled plastic. The report also talks on winning the environmental design challenge from Walmart. HP replaced a PC’s conventional cardboard and plastic packaging with a reusable bag made from 100 percent recycled materials which accounted for the accolade. The new design ensured that the company could show a total packaging reduction of 97% and more importantly, conserve fuel and reduce carbon emissions.

HP claimed – “The design removed the equivalent of one out of every four trucks previously needed to deliver the notebooks to Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations around the country.”

We had earlier commented on HP D2545, a printer manufactured mostly with recycled plastic.

Commenting on the printer, HP said – “The printer is Energy Star qualified and features HP Smart Web Printing, which lets users easily combine portions of numerous web pages onto one page to save paper.”
