Hewlett Packard is in a mood of taking on a giant in a territory that it is not familiar with. The printing major has shown signs of discontentment with the clunks emerging out of Microsoft’s latest operating system, Vista.
It is rumoured that HP has hired professionals to develop an operating system that sits on Vista but bypasses certain modules, similar to a virtual operating system. The development has been underway for almost nine months and there have developments in the OS for touchscreen panels on HP printers.
As several users and analysts have pointed out, Vista contains several processes which end up slowing the operating system. HP wants none of it and hence the decision for its own OS.
The answer to the above mentioned scenario lies with a simple and an easy to use OS, similar to the open source Linux.
Chief technology officer in HP’s PC division Phil McKinney has expressed that many of HP’s customers have asked for an easy-to-use technology where they don’t have to fight with the technology to get the task done.
