HP to Merge its Printing and PC Units

HP is yet again toying with the idea of merging its printer wing along with the PC wing. The thought process behind bringing together both units is perhaps due to utterly bad financial results from its printers and consumables.

In the past three quarters, HP printers have recorded their lowest sales and the revenue is constantly dipping. This piece of information was first published in Wall Street Journal and reports are suggesting that Todd Bradley, HP’s executive vice president is ready to take over the mantle.

Over the past few years, HP’s printing businesses was doing very well, even better than the PC sales. But, off late, they have fell apart as per the reports we have received from HP.

The idea behind the merger is to put the struggling printer division to ride on the PC segment. This in turn will ensure that the printer will rather be pushed onto customers and sales generated through supplies. It is advantageous to HP as a good part of its revenue comes from its services and software division.

We believe that the announcement regarding the merger is round the corner.
