Introducing an Eco-Friendly Font

Being eco-friendly is the toast of the world in this generation and we live up to the hype with the introduction of new ways of serving the nature. The latest trend after befriending with printers, papers and the landfills is a new font, ecofont, that has the potential to save ink, significantly.

Ecofont is designed by a Dutch web and media design group, Spranq. It is basically a regular font with a set of systematic and symmetric holes imbibed in them. The figure below displays the font in subject.

The font is an off-shoot of not-so-popular Vera Sans. As per the founders, the new font will reduce the ink consumption by 20%, which is a significant amount on a realistic basis.

The font is free to use. I don’t see this font being widely popular but sense that the flash of brilliance shown in the design of this font will lead to more fonts that can potentially reduce ink consumption.
