Konica Minolta Launches Magicolor 4690MF

The imaging major, Konica Minolta has introduced a new multi-function colour printer, Magicolor 4690MF meant for small offices and organisations. This printer is a 4-in-1, meaning it can print, scan, copy and fax as well.

The quality of prints are enhanced with Konica Minolta’s patented Simitri HD (high definition polymerised toner) that ensures that colours are true, brilliant and long-lasting whilst texts are crisp, clear and highly defined. A feature unique to this technology is the use of colour toner only when required. It has a printing and copying speed of 24ppm.

4690MF handles various paper thicknesses with a maximum of 210gsm. Users are provided with the freedom of using stationery such as full range of media, including stationery, labels and forms.

The printer has a maximum monthly duty cycle of 120,000 pages. As we had mentioned in our previous article, try to print a maximum of a third of what is recommended by the manufacturer to elongate the life of printers.

The scanning speed is at 24ppm and the outputs can be saved in PDF, TIFF and JPEG formats. Users have the option of directly attaching the scans to eMail, FTP or SMB.

The faxing module is strengthened with ECM/Super G3 capability, which sends and receives fax documents at up to 33.6 Kbps.

Along with a host of features comes a price that is not too alluring. The Magicolor 4690MF bears a price tag of £749. It is well over on the higher side and there are other printers in the market with a similar range of features and at half the price. Whether it worthy of going for 4690MF or not, we will find out when we review it.
