Kyocera Mita has recently launched a new multi-function printer in FS-C1020MFP. It is capable of printing, scanning, copying and faxing. The printer is mainly aimed at offices and enterprises. The manufacturer claims that the printer occupies a small foot-print but its tallish design is far away from being attractive. Samsung and Canon are probably the only manufacturers who are capable of producing show pieces.
The newly launched printer is capable of printing at a best resolution of 600 X 600 dpi in monochrome and 2400 X 600 dpi in colour. The printer prints in duplex mode as well.
Printing speed is above average at 21 pages per minute for both monochrome and colour. The FS-C1020MFP takes a whopping 48 seconds to warm-up and one can expect a black print only after 30 seconds and for colour it’s 14 seconds. This figures are highly unacceptable in today’s ‘instant’ world; brands such as HP are riding on technologies that cut down start-up times to a bare minimum with Instant-On technology.
Printer interfaces are standard with Ethernet controller for wired networks and USB 2.0 for direct connection to systems.
The Kyocera Mita FS-C1020MFP carries a decent price tag of £335 excluding VAT.
