Canon is proving that they are the pioneers of portable printers as well as large format printers. It is due to launch imagePROGRAF iPF6100 24” large format printer in June 2007. It boasts of brilliant colour, sophisticated print-head technology, and high speed output. This printer is aimed at photo professionals and graphic artists. The auto colour calibration tool which claims to be much superior than its rivals is estimated to be 10 minutes faster than other similar printers.
Features:
- 12-Color Pigment Ink System – Canon ink cartridges offers excellent color fastness and stability with a remarkably wide color gamut. LUCIA ink minimizes bronzing and graininess
- Built in Calibration – Equipped with a built-in calibration feature to help you consistently achieve superior results
- Automatic Switching Between Black Inks – Utilizes automatic switching between Regular Black and Matte Black Ink, helping to eliminate wasted ink and time of swapping out ink tanks
- Print Head System – Dual print head system with a total of 30,720 nozzles
- Borderless Printing – 4-sided edge to edge printing, only with roll media
A variation of the iPF6100 is the iPF5100 which is a 17” large format printer. It is projected to be available in the market in August 2007.
The features of both printers seem be quite impressive. But the true colours will be known only when it is put to test. Canon has to hope that this printer lives up to the expectations of hard nailed reviewers and other professionals.
