Legendary Polaroid Cameras are Back

polaroid onePolaroid might have retired the classic Polaroid cameras a few years in the advent of digital Zink technology, but the news around the rumour mill suggests re-introduction.

Summit Global, the exclusive licensee of Polaroid imaging has stated that the original Polaroid camera will be back in action as Polaroid 600. These analog cameras are multi-functional, in the sense that they carry an instant camera as well. The printer does not contain any printer ink but rather the paper is made of special thermal sensitive materials.

The re-introduction does not necessarily mean that Zink powered cameras which run off of Bluetooth sourcing will be discontinued. The manufacturer continues to produce Polaroid TWO and the next version, THREE is in line.

Giovanni Tomaselli, Managing Director of Summit Global says – “With significant marketing effort being applied to instant photography, both with the re-launch of instant film and through product line expansion of the digital formats we will introduce the Polaroid Brand to younger consumers and ready them for a lifetime of Polaroid experiences.”

Polaroid THREE will be used mainly to print from Bluetooth powered mobile phones. It will print 4″ X 3″ borderless photographs which is about the size of a standard credit card. It will also contain an integrated camera, trying to emulate Polaroid ONE functionally.
