Dublin based Sigma Print & Media Group has found a new use for inkjet printers, to imprint metallic prints on wedding cards. It will leverage on Roland DG’s metallic inkjet printers, which uses liquid metal instead of the traditional ink in their printer ink cartridges.
The process will involve XC-540MT to reproduce metallic effects for its wedding cards and book covers.
“With the XC-540MT we are continuing to push the boundaries of technology to evolve with our customers’ business needs,” said Roland DG UK director of sales Martin Phillips.
The manufacturer is currently piloting the use by comparing the prints from this printer to that of high volume digital colour press.
If everything goes as planned, the wedding book service will launch by the end of November and the photo book service in January 2010.
CEO of Sigma Print & Media Group, Rory Kelly said – “With the XC-540MT we are able to bring a unique and emotive product to the marketplace,”
“The ability to produce dynamic metallic colours and finishes will enable us to create high end and bespoke covers. We see becoming the first customer as the first step towards a lengthy and mutually beneficial business relationship.”
