Mozilla Launches Firefox 3.1 Alpha

Firefox ShiretokoGeek friendly browser Firefox has unveiled the alpha version of Firefox 3.1 today and is available for download. The release is codenamed Shiretoko and is built on pre-release version of the Gecko 1.9.1 platform and is meant for developers and testers only.

Shiretoko offers several features like a new graphical tab selector that shows page previews like Opera and enhances the smart filtering system for the Awesome Bar.

Web developers are in for a bonanza with new CSS properties and selectors. The HTML canvas element also got a boost in alpha 1 with the introduction of support for the canvas text API.
