Geek friendly browser Firefox has unveiled the alpha version of Firefox 3.1 today and is available for download. The release is codenamed Shiretoko and is built on pre-release version of the Gecko 1.9.1 platform and is meant for developers and testers only.
Shiretoko offers several features like a new graphical tab selector that shows page previews like Opera and enhances the smart filtering system for the Awesome Bar.
Web developers are in for a bonanza with new CSS properties and selectors. The HTML canvas element also got a boost in alpha 1 with the introduction of support for the canvas text API.
