Nanosolar is a company that prints solar cells just as printing presses print on paper. At the rate of their development, they will end up being the largest solar producers in the world in the next few years.
Nanosolar is based out of Palo Alto in California. The company prints CIGS (copper-indium-gallium-selenium) on a polymer with machines that resemble printing presses to produce solar films. The price of solar films manufactured is five to ten times cheaper than a standard solar panel.
Each CIGS unit spits out 200 feet of solar film a minute. At this rate, they will be able to churn out 1GW of solar cells annually.
The price of a CIG unit stands at a whopping £1m and is aptly capable of taking Nanosolar onto the top exponentially.
