OKI’s brand of office printers are different from others on technology and yet, the manufacturer claims that the OKI LED print quality equals or even exceeds that of laser printers. The just launched C810 is a colour A3 LED printer and is strictly meant for offices and enterprises for the price it commands.
The printer is compact unlike what one would expect a A3 printer to be. It can be set up on a desktop similar to a A4 printer. The combined tray capacity is 500 sheets and can additionally be fitted with two 550 sheet trays. A 16 line LCD screen is provided to navigate through the menu.
Printing resolution is claimed at 1200 X 600 dpi which is standard for most laser printers, and leverages upon ProQ2400 Multi-level technology. A 200MHz processor powers the system and comes with a standard memory configuration of 128MB. Surprisingly, memory expansion is not a feature on this printer.
Printing speed for A4 is at 32ppm for monochrome and 30ppm for colour. A3 mono and colour speeds drop to 17ppm and 16ppm respectively. Warm-up time is around 10 seconds which is not bad, but most other printers run on instant-on technology.
The OKI C810 comes at a hefty price tag of £950 which should probably substantiate the performance of this printer.
