OKI is taking the fight to the opposition with LED printer technology that can be considered as different and yet, competes tooth and nail with laser printers. The latest in this segment, MB260 is a multi-function printer that can copy and scan along with mono document printing.
By the way, LED printers are slightly different from its laser counterparts. A LED printer leverages on Light Emitting Diode to put the prints on paper. LEDs consume lesser energy than laser printers and hence it can be regarded as an eco-friendly device. These days, we have LED TVs as well which is known to conserve power and enhance the picture quality.
Coming back to the printing world, the OKI MB260 is a decent printer filled with most of the features present on other printers. Maximum print resolution at 600 X 600 dpi and 20 pages per minute print speed is optimum for offices and homes. However, the warm up time of 21 seconds can be quite agonizing in this instant world.
The printer connects to systems through USB 2.0 and optionally offers Wi-Fi connectivity. But, the absence of Ethernet connectivity even as an option is appalling. What were they thinking?
The rest of the features offered on the OKI MB260 LED printer is in line with its competitors. Price falls in the economy range at around£110.
