Epson Japan has studied the local market pretty well and have launched a single-function postcard printer. It is a full fledged printer that can only output postcard prints and absolutely nothing else.
We Westerners may be big on sending e-cards and exchanging e-mails, but people in Japan still enjoy sending out postcards and snail mails. It is nice to know that some country in the world still hold the traditional fort and stick onto that rather than moving into cheap abstract kind of a souvenir.
The postcard printer launched by Epson is called Address Expert and it comes into two varieties; E-600 and E-800. The only difference between the two is that the latter comes with a wireless keyboard to key into captions, messages, names, and other type-able characters. The former will have to leverage upon the software keyboard to carry out the same set of activities.
The printer leverages upon printer ink cartridges to bring out the beautiful images to life. My best bet is that the print head is Micro Piezo with DURABrite ink technology.
Going by the image, it is apparent that the common man might mistake the printer for a full fledged system. Compliments to Epson for camouflaging the printer so well.
Both printers come with a 7″ LCD touchscreen with 5760 x 1440 dpi resolution and a host of software functions are embedded into the printer. It can work as a standalone as well as with PCs and Macs.
