Printelligent has launched a new product to monitor the overall functions of networked printers - PrintAlert. The company manages networked print environments for mid- to large companies with typical cost savings of up to 38% in general office printing costs.
“PrintAlert was developed in-house because our clients wanted extreme flexibility in Printelligent’s service response resulting from data collected from their printers,” said Wellman, CEO of Printelligent. “We tried using third-party remote monitoring software applications, but none of them provided the flexibility needed.”
PrintAlert monitors printers on networks on a real time basis. Some information collected includes the printer’s lifecount (pages printed to-date) and status messages such as a low toner alert. These message logs are sent over to Printeliigent for their action. The company completes the service request even before the client or the end users are aware of the service need. Through this process, human intervention for reporting service requests and the consequent delay is distanced.
The data collection happens over SNMP protocol and transmission through the internet. Data is encrypted to keep the data secure and all data pass through the firewall ports.
Over 1200 printing solutions are leveraging upon this solution with great success.
