Remanufactured Printer Cartridges Endorsed By Study

Centre for remanufacturing and reuse

The CRR has been formed to promote, where appropriate, the activities of remanufacturing and reuse

The Centre for Remanufacturing & Reuse (CRR), a research and consulting organisation in sustainable products and services, has published a report on the subject of remanufactured products and their procurement by local authorities in the northeast of England.

High on the list of products CRR singles out for praise is remanufactured printer cartridges. In particular, CRR say that Durham County Council, who provided data for the study, could save £93,400 per year by using remanufactured cartridges instead of new, and generate up to 15,020 kilograms less CO2 in the process.

After a thorough analysis of various environmental criteria over the service life of the device, the researchers determined that printer cartridges are among the most viable and acceptable product to replace with remanufactured alternatives.

CRR worked with the North East Improvement and Efficiency Partnership on the report, entitled Public procurement of remanufactured products, with the aim of illustrating the environmental and economical benefits of using remanufactured products in general.
