Canon is a leading brand for inkjet printers; especially the ones that specialize in photographs. Recently, Canon launched iP4600 in its Pixma series replacing the redundant iP4500 and iP4400. The price of iP4600 was significantly cheaper than its predecessor but a review conducted by PC Mag suggests that the output and the associated tenderloins may have gone with the price.
The Canon Pixma iP4600 is a plain inkjet printer and nothing more.
Printing quality checked out OK for graphics, was above average for photos but was below par in the text category. Some of the small prints printed on this Canon inkjet printer were not easily readable, which is not uncommon with inkjet printers in this range.
Printing speed for iP4600 has taken a hit from its predecessors. Canon claims that the printing speed is estimated at 26ppm for monochrome and 21ppm for colour, but tests suggest that the speed is well off by 5ppm. iP4500 was much faster at 31ppm for monochrome and 24ppm for colour; like we said earlier, the speed has gone with the price.
The Canon Pixma iP4600 is a basic printer with decent output at a decent speed. It makes a good printer for those not looking for extra-ordinary speeds and unusual font sizes. At £50, it’s definitely value for money.
