The undisputed leader in the printer industry for looks has a new honcho in town, a multi-function mono laser printer, SCX-4824FN. The new printer is a five-in-one printer that can print, copy, scan, fax and PC-fax. It’s touted as a high performer working at a significant speed and is targetted at professional workgroups.

This printer can produce a best resolution of 1200 X 1200 dpi. It carries 128MB memory which can be upgrade up to 384 MB. Monthly duty cycle is monstrous at 50,000 prints per month.

Printing speed is top notch at 24ppm. The first print is estimated to emerge before 10 seconds.

Samsung claims that the noise levels arising from this printer are at a lowest at 49-52 dBA during copying and printing. They draw this interesting comparison – “…quieter than the average conversation and less noisy than a telephone dial tone.”

The printer’s connectivity is twofold – USB 2.0 for standalone systems and an Ethernet port for networks. The absence of a wireless option could cost the manufacturer dearly on the longer run when the latest printers come equipped with Wi-Fi by default.

Maintenance on this Samsung laser printer should be at a minimum with its high yield cartridges which can stand tall for over 5000 prints. The normal cartridge can last for 2000 prints.
