Samsung PrintersThe age of lame looking printers in white and grey are ready to see the door. Samsung has set the trend straight by introducing printers that looks different and elegant from the rest. It is set to display the slimmest monochrome laser printer ML-1630 and all-in-one printer SCX-4500 at GITEX 2007.

GITEX technology week is a showcase of dedicated trade events in the Gulf encompassing IT business solutions, telecommunications and consumer electronics. Complementing the exhibition will be a whole host of exciting new product launches, interactive demonstrations and a consumer electronic product fashion show.

The ML-1630 and SCX-4500 have a rich dark glossy black finish to it and is visually extremely appealing. It resembles a modern slim piano. The finish is obtained by high quality polymer resin and the contrasting blue LED display adds value to the finish.

Mr. Seunggu Kang, general manager of the printer division at Samsung Gulf Electronics said – “Samsung now takes the printer to an entirely new level of artistic refinement, above the technology and functional competition”

He also added – “With the desire for a product that offers more than just functionality, consumers search for products that are reflections of themselves. Therefore, product competitiveness no longer only draws from product functionality, but product sensibility and uniqueness. Highlighted by sophisticated image, our innovative new printers offer so much more than regular printers, which are often thought of as add-on equipment. Samsung will distinguish its new printers as luxurious icons of the global market by targeting individual consumers”

For some odd reason, none of the other printer manufacturers have spent enough time on the looks of their printers. A printer has always been termed as a functional unit rather than a showpiece. I am glad that Samsung has opened the conduit for other companies to soon follow the lead. Welcome to the age of celebrity printers.
