Samsung Launches SCX-5835FN : Monochrome Multi-function Printer
Samsung Electronics, one of the leading manufacturers of laser printers around the globe has unveiled a new multi-function monochrome laser printer in SCX-5835. The printer can scan, copy, fax along with document printing. The product is promoted as a fast and an affordable printer; no word on quality though.
The document print resolution at a maximum is 1200 X 1200 dpi. With a 1050 sheets joint paper tray capacity and 80,000 monthly duty cycle, this printer certainly aims at reaching out to bigger offices and enterprises. A 80 GB hard disk is provided to support advanced document management.
Printing speed is claimed at the rate of 35 pages per minute, which is good for a printer in this segment. However, we have seen that all manufacturers blow up the rate, and one would hope that the variance between the claimed and actual rates is at a minimum.
Unusual feature on this printer includes a 7″ monochrome touchscreen LCD panel for navigating through the menu. This feature is extremely rare, kudos to Samsung for this fresh addition in laser printers. Other features include automatic duplex printing, Ethernet ready and other security features.
The Samsung SCX-5835FN printer is available for purchase through all its channel partners and the manufacturer has put a hefty price tag of £550 on it; affordable????
