HP Offers Secure Prints
Posted in SecurityIn the wake of SophosLabs exposing HP's vulnerability with one of its toolboxes, HP has launched a secure software suite, Secure Print Advantage aimed at enterprises and organisations that deal with confidential data.
HP's new software suite incorporates three elements to secure the data to be printed; encryption software, secure document server and a secure print module.
Garry Lefkwitz, director of marketing for HP's Secure Print Advantage said: "There is a class of reseller that is very focused on security and encryption and this solution is ideal for these companies."
TallyGenicom, a printer vendor has shot down the launch of secure printing suite stating that they have a similar solution on the field and there was nothing out of the hat about HP's Secure Print Advantage. They termed the new software as using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
It doesn't matter if HP is trying to reinvent the wheel as long as it's invented and implemented. Many organisations depend on HP for their printing needs and HP should have had this solution in place long time back. But, it's better late than never.
