Sony has announced the arrival of their latest digital frame, the S-Frame DPP-F700 which comes integrated with an in-built printer. Or, should we say that the printer comes integrated with a digital photo-frame?
The LCD screen is 7 inches diagonal and can display a best possible resolution of 800 X 480 pixels. This device comes with a standard 1GB memory and photographs are automatically resized to fit the screen resolution, and therefore, the size of each photograph reduces. The manufacturer claims that one can store 2000 photographs.
Image transfer is user friendly through USB 2.0 to PC, as well as to most memory cards, including Memory Stick PRO™, Memory Stick PRO Duo™, Secure Digital (SD), SDHC, Multi-Media Card (MMC), Compact Flash®, and xD-Picture Card™ media.
The printer is capable of printing on postcard sized (4″ X 6″) paper at 300 X 300 dpi. Print speed is quite good and competitive with most photo printers in the market at 45 seconds a piece.
The frame can be used to edit images before printing and several editing options are available such as enlarging, reduction, crop, date stamp on/off, border/borderless as well as brightness, contrast, hue, and sharpness adjustment.
The Sony S-Frame DPP-F700 will launch early next year and is estimated to cost around £150. Information regarding the price of printer cartridges is yet to be disclosed.
