SoyPrint offers an environmentally friendly alternative to oil based toner

SymbioPrint is set to launch the successful SoyPrint biotoner on the American market after increasing success in Europe. September will see the German company release the biotoner from their recently acquired base in Sunnyvale, California.

As its name suggests, biotoner falls in line with the recent trend for environmentally friendly printing solutions. Manufactured by Print Recovery Concepts, it substitutes the petroleum-based oil found in toner for oil from soy crops. Its green capabilities have seen a rapid growth in the product’s popularity, with SoyPrint recently having expanded their operations into Canada, Brazil and Mexico, already having established distributors in North America and Europe.

Dolin Pereira, CEO of SymbioPrint Americas, described the impact of SoyPrintin the US: “Biotoner cartridges are a breakthrough for the U.S. marketplace,” Pereira commented.

“They represent a fundamental shift away from conventional petroleum-based toner cartridges to a solution that is healthier, more cost effective and ecologically responsible.”

“The benefits of using soy-based toner are so comprehensive that it makes business and environmental sense to discontinue using crude oil-based cartridges.”

SoyPrint is one of several companies looking to improve their environmental footprint. Earlier this week, Fuji Xerox announced the release of their new, green MFP range for the Asia Pacific market. The spotlight also recently fell on the innovative new Print A Forest software, which uses the revenue of 100 printed pages to plant a tree in an endangered forest.
