Covert office printing can become a thing of the past is the latest mantra from Kodak while it introduces low cost printer consumables. The latest survey by Kodak claims that many office goers are utilising their office printer for personal use; owing to high cost involved in printing at home.

We had earlier reported that home printing was dipping constantly and an exponential rise in printing at offices. Looks like the correlation is complete with this post.

Three of the four people surveyed felt that the cost of the printer inks is sky high and this compromises their ethics at work. An average person in the UK spends around £105 a year on printing ink.

15% of the office goers who use office printers for their personal work have printed their CVs on office printers while job hunting.

With the majority of office goers sticking to personal printing at offices, there aren't many honest people left to go against the tide. A paltry 1% of the office goers report such crimes to higher authorities in their offices.

"When it comes to the high cost of ink, the people of Britain have been ripped off for far too long now and they know it," says Enrico Bradamante, head of inkjet printing in Europe for Kodak.

Kodak hopes to change the trend by bringing down the ink costs. The effort might have come too late as those who are indulging in printing at offices might not want switch over to a relatively expensive means. Getting warned or caught at work place might change their minds. So, Kodak should work jointly with firms to catch printing thieves.
