The Secret behind the new Lexmark Printers

Many industry experts including myself believe that Lexmark printers have been under-achieving for the past year and a half. The printer quality, cost associated with the prints and the features offered have not been competitive to confuse the consumer enough. As a result, sales have dipped, although not drastically as one would imagine.

This year, well, almost towards the end, their new line of printers, eight in total, has something special that might appeal the public. All the eight printers, ranging from the basic to the top end will carry the same print engine. This necessarily means that the print quality and print speed will not vary between the models. This concept is fresh and can this alone drive the consumer to buy it? Maybe the one who is shelling out under £80 can.

Lexmark is putting a price on each model by adding incremental features on each of the models starting from the lowest. The added features will include an automatic document feeder, multi-functional capabilities, PictBridge port, 4.3″ LCD screen, Ethernet and Wi-Fi to name a few. So, in essence, a consumer can pick and choose the features that interest him/her rather than having to decide on the quality and speed of prints. Thinking practically, it makes life easier for the consumer and hence, I strongly believe that the sales will boost. Good thinking Lexmark!!!

Some of the top models are connected to the internet. Users can save certain configurations such as the copy settings on the printer and it automatically gets saved on the net, provided a user account is already in place. Users can log into their ids later in the day and save tons of time by not configuring things from the scratch. All these saving and logging in activities are carried out through the 4.3″ LCD screen which is touch enabled and the menu options on it definitely look grand.
