Toaster Downloads Content from the Web and Prints them on your Bread

by Abhinav Kaiser on September 14, 2008

When we started this blog a year and a half ago, we had discussed a printer that printed on bread toasts. It was an experiment with real equipment and obtained moderate results.

Today, we harp on a bread toast printer concept presented by Electrolux. Designer Sung Bae Chang has given rise to a printer that can download content such as images, text, tables etc from the internet and reproduce them on a bread toast.

We do not have complete details of this concept at this moment. What we understand is that the toast printer connects to the internet through a USB cable. The entire cross section of the toast printer has module printers powered by a heated wire. Each module can move 30 degrees on either side, and the combination of several modules can successfully reproduce any content on the bread.

This appliance is one of the finalists in a design competition held by Electrolux. Designer claims that the idea of a toast printer flashed while he was having toasts for breakfast.

Electrolux does not plan on commercializing this concept.
