There was a time when I used to record all my favourite TV programmes on a VCR. Things changed drastically in the next few years; I hooked up a TV tuner card to my computer to be able to record programs directly. I started saving several screenshots of Hollywood and British movies and then printed them so I could hang them in my room as a poster. Although I don’t have the patience and interest of printing posters from screenshots anymore, I came across a product which lets you take printouts directly from the TV. Haier, a popular refrigerator brand has unveiled a 47” full HD LCD TV which comes with a printer port.
The L47A18 has dual HDMI, two integrated USB ports, a built in card reader that will take a variety of memory card types and makes showing jpegs and playing mp3s and DiVX encoded films easy and that afore-mentioned printer port.
We have TVs with hard disks and now we have printer port, USB and card readers. In the next few years, I wouldn’t be surprised if a TV came out with a built in computer with a dual processor and other top gear. We have history of integration with cell phones evolving into a PDA which can accept calls. In a similar fashion, we will soon see computers that act as TVs.
L47A18 has a resolution of 1080p and is priced at around £1400. It was presented at Canton Fair 2007 at Seoul, South Korea. We are not sure when this TV would be hitting the stores around the globe and will keep you posted on the same.
