Going with our stand on conserving forests by reducing the amount of print-outs, we are shocked to hear that offices in the UK are contributing actively to our dwindling forests and environment. A survey conducted by Fujitsu Siemens Computers reports that 120 billion print-outs have been taken in a single year and an average office worker takes 22 prints a day. Shocking! Absolutely shocking.
The survey questioned more than 2000 office goers and the results were far from what is expected. Here are some percentages to take your breath away:
- 43% had picked up somebody else’s prints by mistake
- 8% print emails before reading them
- 47% are careful about their printing habits
- 64% stated that their companies didn’t have a printing policy
- 30% of the surveyed office workers would change their printing habits if a printing policy is put in place
One thing is absolutely clear; while people are going gaga over the pollution caused by aircrafts, the same activists seem to be blinded by the destruction taking place at offices across UK and the world. A strong awareness needs to be raised with the company heads to set up a benevolent printer policy to bring down the amount of printing taking place.
