Choosing Printer Paper

When it comes to printing, there are two most important factors. One is ink and other is printer paper. While most of the people may be very careful while selecting correct inkjet cartridge for your printer, they are not so careful while selection printer paper. You should have the printer paper of good quality to get the good printing.

With advancements in printing technologies, the printing media is no longer limited to plain paper. Latest Inkjet and laser printers can print on a variety of surfaces. These include labels, photo paper, business cards, stickers, and even cloths. However, most of the printing still done on standard white paper. They will generally do the job well, but your results could be better if you use printing paper specifically made for inkjet printers.

There inkjet printer papers are measured in quality on basis of the effective printing that appears on them. The results mainly depend on the nature of the surface of the paper. The smoothness of the surface of the paper is very important. The printer ink absorbs light. The brightness of the printed material will depend on how much light is absorbed by ink. It is the smoothness of the page that determines how much light is reflected from it. The smoother the printer paper, the better your printout will look better.

Another important factor is the quantity of the ink that gets absorbed by the printer paper. The sprayed ink gets absorbed by the paper. As the paper absorbs ink, it spreads over the paper. If the paper absorbs more ink, the spreading will more and sometimes, it may spread outside of border of printing area. This may result in the distortion of the edges of the printed images and text. Hence, the printing may look unclear and wearer patterned on the edge. So, the less ink that is absorbed by the printer paper, the better your printing will look.

The better inkjet printer papers are manufactured with smoother surfaces and coated with a waxy substance that prevents the ink from being absorbed by the paper. Well coated paper also allows smoother printing. Generally, most of the printers print at a higher resolution on coated paper than on standard paper. Hence, while choosing the printer paper it is important to examine sample of the paper you are buying. If possible take a trial printing on the sample paper and see how it prints.

When it comes to printer paper, there are surprisingly many options available, more then you can imagine. Now days, various kinds of papers are manufactured especially for printing. Leading printer and printer supplies manufacture like Epson are also manufacturing various types of papers. This includes photographic papers inkjet plain papers and glossy papers. These papers are mostly used for color printing. They are mostly used for printing all business graphics. It is also ideal for printing letterheads, school projects and all forms of correspondence.
