Cost Of Ink Cartridges
It is a general trend that when a new product comes out, its initial value is
high. Then with the time, sale and better technology the cost gets lower.
However, this may be the case with the ink jet cartridges. With time, the
printers got cheaper. Now days, a printer may cost as much as or less then its
cartridge.
The cost of a branded or an OEM inkjet cartridge can be exceedingly high in
comparison to compatible or remanufactured inkjet cartridges. This hike in the
price is more due to the brand name rather then the quality. As in many cases,
compatible inkjet cartridges can be as much as 70% less than the cost of brand
name cartridges making them a good economical option. Furthermore, it will give
a very good quality printing.
It is easy to obtain cartridges for Epson, Hewlett Packard and Canon printers.
The Epson type has a fixed print head and the Hewlett Packard type has print
heads in the cartridges. Canon produces printers of both types and a halfway
system with a removable print head unit that takes small cartridges. All these
features directly affect the cost of the printer.
The fixed print head printer in an Epson inkjet printer uses cheaper cartridges.
These cartridges are more or less only ink tanks. But it has one drawback; if
the printer is only used occasionally, the print head can dry out and can become
blocked. The printer is then likely to be a dead one as it is very difficult to
clear a blocked print head. Other ink jet printers, from HP, Lexmark and Canon
also have the print heads in the cartridges. Hence, if proper ink is not used,
they can also suffer from a blocked print head. If this should happen, only a
cartridge is lost. Print head cartridges cost more than the ink tank type but
often contain more ink.
Epson have introduced a series of inkjet printers that use chipped inkjet
cartridges. The microchips offer no advantages to the user over the original
system that Epson used for its earlier printers to indicate the amount of ink
left. Epson introduced these chips to make it difficult for the compatible
cartridge makers to produce cartridges for the new series of Epson printers.
Nevertheless, the compatible companies have now produced cartridges with
compatible chips. These chipped inkjet cartridges tend to cost slightly more
than the not chipped cartridges. But here the main advantage is that they are
still considerably cheaper than the Epson originals.
Photo Quality Paper and coating technologies enhance the performance advantages
of compatible inkjet cartridges to the fullest. In order to ensure optimum print
quality, you can choose from our extended range of Photo Quality print media.
This combines with cost effectiveness to give you ideal printing option.
