The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust – which was recently the focus of the BBC’s popular documentary series, Elephant Diaries – is delighted to be receiving donations from a new recycling initiative by Cartridge SAVE, the UK’s leading online retailer of printer cartridges.
The donations to The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust come from revenue generated by a special scheme in which Cartridge SAVE encourages consumers to recycle their ink jet and toner cartridges, so that they can be refilled, thus saving resources.
The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust receives income from the sale of every inkjet and toner cartridge returned, providing a valuable source of monthly funds to supporting the charity’s UK operation, which actively campaigns for the conservation and p reservation of all wildlife.
While helping to improve recycling rates and encourage socially conscious consumerism, Cartridge SAVE will also be helping The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to continue its work of rescuing, rearing and rehabilitating back in to the wild, orphans of many species, particularly rhinos and elephants. The trust also carries out anti-poaching patrols, community outreach programmes and operates a mobile veterinary unit in Tsavo National Park, Kenya.
The Charity’s UK Manager, Rob Brandford, says: “We are delighted to be involved with Cartridge SAVE and their recycling scheme, which demonstrates their recognition of the need for us all to help protect the environment.”
“The scheme is a true values match for The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, promoting conservation of resources in a mutual quest for environmental responsibility. While cartridge recycling and wildlife conservation may seem miles apart, in reality they complement each other perfectly – because we’re working together to help create a more sustainable world.“
