The copy and print quality of the Brother DCP-8060 makes it one of the more popular multifunction devices for small office that requires low to mid-volume document printing per month. However, the lack of versatile networking features, media card slots, and direct-printing features may prevent it from being entirely efficient, while the absence of colour print technology makes it quite outdated for professionals who deal with graphics and photo printouts.

Design

The Brother DCP-8060 runs on 32MB of RAM (expandable at up to 544MB) and uses B/W laser print technology, which relies on consumables such as a drum unit and toner cartridge. There is a 50-page ADF on the flatbed copier, which is integrated with a 48-bit scanner that can scan to OCR, email, file, or image. The bulky printer measures 20.9 inches wide and 18.7 inches tall. It tends to take up a little too much space at 17.7 inches deep.

Advantages

Unlike previous models, the automatic document feeder of the Brother DCP8060 can already accommodate up to 50 sheets at a time. Users can enjoy PC-free copying for more convenience and scan documents in full colour at resolutions of up to 19200x19200 dpi. Apart from the standard 250-sheet capacity input tray, there is an additional 50-sheet multipurpose tray that comes with the Brother DCP 8060. The copier can produce up to 99 copies from the original and users can easily sort them into groups.

Disadvantages

The Brother DCP-8060 uses an outdated B/W laser technology, which means you can only copy or print documents and pictures in monochrome. The absence of an Energy Star qualification makes it questionable in terms of energy efficiency for the office, while noise at up to 55 dB makes it one of the loudest printers around. The Brother DCP-8060 is also heavy at a little over 15 kg, limiting mobility when users have to take a multifunction printer with them while on-the-go.
