This printer is a small but efficient network-ready device ideal for small and wireless networks. With the Brother HL-5280DW, users enjoy the perks of a speedy laser printer for all their basic document printing needs. Still it is quite old and outdated, so some may find it unsuitable for their modern office requirements.


Design

Weighing 10.16 kg, the Brother HL-5280DW is a small but tough monochrome laser printer integrated with Wi-Fi and versatile paper-handling options. It is ENERGY STAR-qualified and speedy with its 266 MHz NEC VR5500 processor and a 32MB standard memory. The cube-like printer has a small control panel with basic buttons for cancelling jobs, reprinting, and navigating through menus, and a 1-line, 3-colour LCD screen located on the top left-hand corner.

Advantages

The Brother HL-5280DW is fast at 30 ppm and output looks flawless and crisp at 1200x1200 dpi. The standard paper capacity is generous at 250 sheets, and an additional 50-sheet multi-purpose tray is included. Users can print securely and expand the standard memory at up to 512MB. Users can print wirelessly and save time with the auto-duplexer. The Brother HL-5280DW is also completely silent when idle.

Disadvantages

For a printer with laser technology, it is quite noisy at 53 dB. The documentation that comes with the Brother HL-5280DW is incomplete, so users may need to search for additional guides online. The flimsy paper feed makes paper curl, and it limits the sizes and kinds of media that can be used for printing.
