The minimalist and understated Canon i-SENSYS MF8050Cn is a suitable all-in-one device for a small office. It is praised for its network-ready features, energy efficiency, and its user-friendly interface, but the speeds attributed to the MF8050Cn should be classed as disappointing for a laser printer.



Design

Boasting a flatbed scanner, colour copier, and super G3 33.6 Kbps fax modem, the Canon i-SENSYS MF8050Cn is an all-in-one device that can outperform competition in a small office. It uses the colour laser beam method of printing and the scanner comes with a 50-sheet automatic document feeder. The main interface of this printer is a high-speed USB 2.0, but the i-SENSYS MF-8050Cn is also compatible with an Ethernet interface. 128MB of shared memory is integrated into this 25kg device.

Advantages

Automatic image refinement is integrated into the Canon i-SENSYS MF8050Cn so print quality can be enhanced to 2400x600dpi. Users can transmit fax data quickly because of the modem and install the telephone handset into the device for more convenience. The LCD display is large enough for easy viewing. The Canon i-SENSYS MF8050Cn is energy efficient and capable of scanning to a USB memory key or to a network.

Disadvantages

Users could spend their money on faster laser printers than the Canon i-SENSYS MF8050Cn because the speeds of this one only range between 8ppm (colour) and 12ppm (monochrome). The printer does not guarantee the best high-resolution colour printouts because its resolution is limited to 600x600 dpi.
