  • Can both sides of the paper be used when printing with the Dell B1160W?

    Double-sided printing with Dell B1160W

The Dell B1160W mono laser printer doesn't have a duplex unit but it's still possible to print on both sides of the paper by feeding the paper in manually if required.

Dell B1160w Printer Review

Expert review of the Dell B1160w printer 13 November 2012

Our Verdict:

The Dell B1160W is a low-cost, easy to maintain wireless mono laser printer ideal for personal use. It is notably small and connects easily to wireless networks, which allows users to print without the need for a wired connection. The Dell B1160W laser printer offers good print rates and excellent output quality, at 1200x1200 dpi or 600x600 dpi, using default settings. It offers reliable duty capacity, and good enough input capacity. However, the Dell B1160W printer can only produce black and white documents and it does not support duplex printing.

Design

The Dell B1160W wireless mono laser printer is an excellent space-saver, measuring only 13x8x7 inches. The B1160W from Dell has a low-capacity input tray that can handle as many as 150 sheets of plain paper, while the output tray can only handle 100 pages at a time. The Dell B1160W offers wireless connectivity, though it still comes with high-speed USB as the standard connection. The productive Dell B1160W wireless printer is designed for 10,000 pages per month use, and it has support for various operating systems from Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Advantages

Wireless printing is the main selling point of the Dell B1160W laser printer. Additionally, it offers respectable print speeds up to 20 ppm using A4 paper and 21 ppm for letter size documents. The Dell B1160W mono laser printer does not have an expandable RAM, but its built-in memory is large enough for low-volume print tasks, at 32 MB. Printer maintenance is simplified by the printer being restricted to the use of a single Dell B1160W black toner cartridge although this does limit printing flexibility somewhat for the user.

Disadvantages

However, the Dell B1160W wireless laser printer can only produce monochrome documents and it does not support multifunction features. The unit does not even have a built in duplexer, nor does it have an Ethernet interface for network use.
