Epson AcuLaser M2400 Printer Review

Expert review of the Epson AcuLaser M2400 printer 26 September 2013

Our Verdict:

The Epson AcuLaser M2400 is a cost-effective monochrome printer designed to improve the productivity in the small office while reducing overall running costs and energy consumption. While it has built-in features that help save time and resources, the Epson AcuLaser M2400 black and white printer is not very versatile for multiple users.

Design

The Epson AcuLaser M2400 printer is not designed to be shared, so it lacks built-in networking and the only connectivity option is a USB 2.0 Type B port. However, it makes up with a parallel interface and versatile emulations for easy integration into every IT environment. The Epson M2400 laser printer runs on 32MB of memory with a 300MHz processor. It enables versatile paper management with a standard 250-sheet capacity (plus two optional paper trays). The understated but compact frame weighs 11.5Kg and measures 378mm wide, 255mm tall, and 390mm deep.

Advantages

The memory is upgradeable to 288MB and paper input can be in front or at the back. The paper capacity of the Epson AcuLaser M2400 monochrome laser printer is upgradeable to 800 sheets, and the high duty cycle makes it flexible enough for occasional bulk printing. The Epson AcuLaser M2400 produces output in 1200dpi resolution, so text looks crisp and sharp with solid fills, while greyscale images are clearer and smoother. Double-sided printing is automatic in the AcuLaser M2400 mono laser printer. Return toner cartridges for the Epson M2400 series printer are eco-friendly and provide users with an upfront discount on the price of cartridges.

Disadvantages

Only monochrome printing is supported, and paper capacity and memory upgrades are very limited. The Epson M2400 AcuLaser is heavy and tends to be noisy while printing. The outdated processor of the AcuLaser M2400 might affect the overall speed when producing complicated documents.
