Epson AcuLaser M7000DTN Printer Review

Expert review of the Epson AcuLaser M7000DTN printer 28 February 2013

Our Verdict:

For a growing small or medium-sized office, the Epson AcuLaser M7000DTN monochrome laser printer is a versatile and cost-effective device that can easily be integrated into any workgroup while capable of printing on a wide variety of media types and sizes. This Epson AcuLaser M7000DTN duplex A3 mono printer with extra tray is user-friendly and expandable, but the expensive price tag could be a setback.

Design

This is a boxy device that measures 426mm tall and 463.5mm deep, and weighs 29Kg. It comes with two paper trays with a standard capacity of 730 sheets for the main cassette and 150 sheets for the multipurpose tray. The output bin of the Epson AcuLaser M7000DTN workgroup printer can handle 230 sheets. The LCD screen can display up to five lines of 22 characters. The device runs on a 288MHz processor with 64MB of memory, while standard connectivity options include USB 2.0 type B and gigabit Ethernet.

Advantages

Quiet operation, expandable memory up to 310MB, and two-sided printing are the main benefits of the AcuLaser M7000DTN mono printer. The paper capacity is up to 1,380 sheets. The first page is ready in nine seconds, and it can support a range of media types and sizes up to A3. On-board operation is easy because of a backlit LCD screen. Output quality is good because of the 1200dpi resolution. The Epson M7000DTN A3 printer is network-ready and compatible with a range of network management and printing protocols. The eco-friendly Epson S051222 return imaging cartridge is compatible with the M7000DTN so supplies for this machine are intended to be recycled.

Disadvantages

This is an expensive device with a high initial price and pricey upgrades. It only prints in monochrome. There are no direct-printing options available in the M-7000DTN laser printer. Users need to provide more installation space because it is 518mm wide. The Epson M7000DTN AcuLaser printer tends to be sluggish when printing complex documents.
