If you’re after an affordable multi-function printer then look no further than the Epson AcuLaser MX14. The monochrome printer, scanner and copier is a real bargain. However, do note that the printer doesn’t come with Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity, so if you plan on printing from multiple devices think again.

Design

Extremely compact for a multi-function device in this range, the Epson AcuLaser MX14 stands at just 299 x 410 x 389 mm. It has a standard white/grey finish, with paper capacity for 160 standard sheets, and a multi-function tray which can hold 60. Connectivity is based solely around USB functions, it also comes with a small mono information screen, and navigational buttons on the front end of the device.

Advantages

The Epson AcuLaser MX14 has multiple functions that are great for all round office needs; scan and copying are all held together in a compact design. Epson’s trademark “Acubrite” toners produce some clear and crisp text documents, while print speed is good at 24 pages per minute - although not the fastest around by any means.

Disadvantages

Although aimed at the business market, it seems as though the Epson AcuLaser MX14 is more suited to a single home user. With no WiFi or Ethernet connection, the MX14 doesn’t have the hardware to handle workgroups or multiple devices. It would have also been nice to see fax functionality and a larger paper capacity. Overall, the Epson AcuLaser MX14 is best suited to home office users that only need one connection to the printer.
