HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw Printer Review

Expert review of the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw printer 20 March 2014

Our Verdict:

A small office can easily afford and install this robust multifunction printer with built-in fax, scan, and copy functions. The HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw mono laser printer simplifies printing from laptops, tablets, and smartphones through wireless and mobile connectivity features, and the tech-savvy control panel makes it easy to program on-board. However, a growing workgroup may find the LaserJet Pro M127fw multifunction printer insufficient because of the lack of expansions and sluggish performance.

Design

The HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw All-in-One printer is boxy with a matte and smooth frame measuring 16.5 inches wide, 12.2 inches tall, and 14.4 inches deep. It weighs 9.07kg, so it's easy to transport. A three-inch colour touch screen serves as the control panel. Only a single toner cartridge is needed by the HP M127fw mono multifunction printer. The processor speed is 600MHz and it runs on 128MB of memory. The input tray can handle 150 sheets and the output bin can handle 100 sheets face-down. High-speed USB 2.0, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi are the standard connectivity options.

Advantages

Fast data transfer is assured by the built-in Wi-Fi and compatibility with Apple AirPrint and HP ePrint. Crisp texts are produced in 600x600dpi thanks to the high quality HP 83A black toner that works in the LaserJet M127fw wireless monochrome laser printer. The fax machine can send messages quickly. The 35-page ADF allows users to leave the HP LaserJet Pro M127fw black and white MFP unattended.

Disadvantages

The fax machine of the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw printer is quite unreliable and won't work when there's an incoming call. The print speed isn't that fast, and can only produce output in monochrome. There are no expansions available for the memory and paper capacity. The lack of an automatic paper sensor can make it difficult for users to load specialty media into the HP LaserJet M-127fw printer.
