HP Laserjet P3005 Printer Review
Expert review of the HP Laserjet P3005 printer 21 April, 2011
Our Verdict:
This is a great printer, for small jobs and larger jobs alike. Thanks to HP's design and build quality, you can throw a heavy work load at this printer and still get high quality results every time, and no paper jams!
Design
The design is pretty simplistic, hard plastic on plastic with few movable metal parts. However, the simplistic and ergonomic design is what proves to be its biggest benefit. More complex machines tend to have more things that can go wrong, and the P3005 is simple enough for anyone to use and hasn't let me down once. It is bulky, but it's also a treat to use.
Advantages
The biggest advantage of the P3005 is the speed. Bigger machines tend to print pages slower, but in 3-5 seconds you can have a paper ready to go with no ink splotches or imperfections. Another big deciding factor is the quality of the printed pages. Using standard black HP P3005 toner, it seems like it raises ever so slightly off of the page to give it a really professional look and feel. The last great thing is the paper capacity, which is spacious enough to allow you to literally go for months without refilling this thing.
Disadvantages
Obviously, with a printer of this size, there's going to be a few downfalls. You may enjoy the size for its increased paper capacity, but you can see how it's bulky stature can get in the way if you don't have a lot of available space. The only other hang up with the P3005 is the fact that there's no wireless connectivity. It may be a pretty old design, but other printers from that era can still connect to wireless networks. However, an Ethernet cable easily takes care of the problem (and may in fact result in faster, more reliable printing).
