Aimed at demanding and dynamic work groups, the Kyocera ECOSYS M3540dn is designed to help increase productivity, streamline tasks, and reduce printing costs. Double-sided printing, copying, faxing, scanning, and printing features together with direct printing capabilities make it an efficient device. However, it is expensive and does not print in colour.
Design
Kyocera supplied the Ecosys M3540dn with its signature laser print technology and a reliable system that is powered by a 667MHz PowerPC processor running on 512MB of memory. The Kyocera M3540dn weighs approximately 21.5kg, with a tall frame that stands 575mm tall and spans 475mm wide and 455mm deep. The base unit has a 500-sheet paper cassette, 100-sheet multi-purpose tray, 75-sheet reversing document processor, and a 250-sheet output bin with a paper full sensor. Two USB host ports are included with the standard interfaces like GigaBit Ethernet and high-speed USB 2.0.
Advantages
The 33.6Kbps fax supports super G3. It prints in speeds of up to 40ppm in A4, produce double-sided faxes and copied documents, and scans in colour. The Kyocera ECOSYS M3540dn can save time and resources with a reversing document processor and support for AirPrint and mobile printing. The paper capacity is upgradeable to 2,600 sheets with six paper trays, and the memory can be increased to 1,536MB. The Kyocera M3540dn can produce sharp and crisp documents in 1200dpi.
Disadvantages
The absence of colour printing capability makes the Kyocera ECOSYS M3540dn less efficient for more demanding offices. There is no Wi-Fi, and users need to pay more if they want an optional internal interface, SD or SDHC card reader, or an SSD hard disc for the Kyocera ECOSYS M3540dn. Copies may appear grainy or washed out with the copier's limited 600x600dpi resolution.
