Expert review of the Lexmark MS617dn printer
The Lexmark MS617dn is a monochrome laser printer designed for use in a home office or small workgroup. The printer produces good quality, fade resistant documents with detailed graphics. A range of eco-features keeps operating costs low, reduces wastage and reduces the environmental impact. However, this is a monochrome printer only with no for colour printing, copying, faxing or scanning, so while the small footprint makes it easy to place, it is likely an additional device will be needed. A wireless connection will cost extra and should be factored into the cost before purchasing.
Design
With the dimensions 306 x 399 x 382mm the Lexmark MS617dn is a compact machine in a grey coloured design. Paper storage is in a 550-sheet tray and a 100 sheet multi-purpose feeder. With extra paper trays capacity can be increased up to 2,300 sheets. Print speeds are 47ppm, resolution is 1200 dpi and the monthly duty cycle is 175,000 pages. The printer is controlled using a 6cm colour LCD display screen and key pad. Connection is achieved from a USB or network interface and there is an optional WIFI connection if required.
Advantages
The Lexmark’s MS617dn prints high quality documents with crisp text and graphics in accurate details of dramatic blacks and smooth greys. It is a reliable machine, which produces fade resistant prints. With a compact footprint, the printer is easy to place even in a small space. Disadvantages
